About the role

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join our unique team providing advice and information to children and young people with disabilities and their families about the range of housing options available to them. Our aim is to provide housing information, advice and support that enables people to know what their options are, plan for the future and find housing solutions that suit them. You will be embedded within the Disability Social Care teams, working alongside our existing SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Specialist Housing Advisor as well as  working closely with Occupational Therapists, Housing teams, Health, Social Care & Education colleagues, District Councils and Home Improvement Agencies.
  • It is a varied role and could involve telephone advice, home visits and exploring all options with families as well as ensuring our general information about housing is kept up to date and provided in a range of formats.
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic person with experience who has an understanding of the specific issues relating to children and young adults with disabilities and their families and how housing impacts on this. A knowledge of local housing and procedures is desirable but a full induction will be given.  We are part of a well-established community of housing related professionals from across the housing network.  
  • Anyone interested will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and manage your own work, an innovative and flexible approach, with the desire to contribute to the ongoing development of our housing advice
  • This is a very rewarding role that allows you to make a real difference to the lives of people living in Cambridgeshire.
  • This is a part time post and there is flexibility in the hours which we are happy to discuss.  We also offer a friendly and fully supportive working environment, a mixture of home and office working to suit, ongoing training and development and the opportunity to continue to develop the housing advice we offer.
  • Interviews will be held on 15th February
