About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join Cambridgeshire County Council's Continuing Healthcare Team. You will be either a qualified Social Worker or Registered Nurse.

The service provides advice to the Adult Social Care workforce relating to NHS Continuing Healthcare and working in partnership with the Integrated Care Board, to determine eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare, and implementing services under the Care Act 2014 if the Integrated Care Board has decided an individual is not eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare.  

The role involves ensuring the Local Authority meets their responsibilities relating to NHS Continuing Healthcare, as well as developing practice, improving outcomes and individuals' lived experience of NHS Continuing Healthcare.

The successful candidate will oversee service delivery across the local authority relating to NHS Continuing Healthcare, and should have a proven track record of partnership working; setting, and delivering targets; report writing and delivery, policy and process writing.  In addition expert knowledge of the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care (2022), the Care Act 2014, Health and Social Care Act 2022, the Mental Health Act 1983 and other key legislation and statutory guidance is important.

What will you be doing?

The purpose of this role is to lead and directly line manage performance and delivery for the Local Authorities' Adult Social Care staff, teams and services. This includes, locality and specialist social work teams working in close partnership with the Integrated Care System (ICS), to deliver their legislative duties, under the National Framework for Continuing Health Care Services and NHS Funded Nursing Care.  This role is the strategic interface with key partners and has a high profile within our ICS, Regional and National groups. You will have direct line management responsibilities and be accountable for reporting into the Assistant Director for Adults and Safeguarding.   

The post holder will manage a specialised team based at Scott House in Huntingdon.

About you

We want to hear from you if you:

  • Are a registered Social Worker with Social Work England or a Registered Nurse
  • Are passionate about NHS Continuing Healthcare and Social Justice
  • Have detailed knowledge of relevant legislation such as Care Act 2014, Health and Social Care Act 2022, and the National Framework for NHS CHC and NHS FNC (2022)
  • Have experience of delivering and shaping services and budget management
  • Have experience and knowledge of working in a local authority or similar organisation, with a clear understanding of their function and responsibilities
  • Have senior management experience, including experience of managing people and processes at individual and strategic level
  • Have leadership experience within health and social care settings and experience of working within both organisational structures
  • Hold a full driver’s license and are willing to travel for work
