About the role

Are you ready to be part of a transformative programme that makes a real difference in people’s lives?

West Northamptonshire Council is looking for an experienced  Programme Co-ordinator to support the delivery of a £32 million Connect to Work initiative across the South Midlands. Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, this ambitious programme aims to deliver positive employment outcomes for residents and businesses in Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, and Northamptonshire. Delivery will be through a network of Local Authority partners, with a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and measurable outcomes.

You’ll help coordinate employment support services, manage data and performance monitoring, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure the programme achieves its strategic employment outcomes.

This role is until March 2030 and the end of the programme. It’s an exciting opportunity to lead a high-profile, high-impact programme that aligns with national priorities and local ambitions.

What will you be doing?

You will be supporting the establishment and maintaining of robust programme management systems, ensuring adherence DWP requirements, and programme delivery of complex grant-funded initiatives being delivered through partners.

  • Supporting the delivery of the Connect to Work programme helping residents overcome barriers to employment.
  • Coordinating communication and collaboration between internal teams and external partners.
  • Managing and analysing programme data to monitor performance and outcomes.
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the programme’s management information system.
  • Assisting with financial claims, reporting, and administrative tasks such as meetings and procurement.
  • Supporting commissioned service providers to ensure quality standards and integration across services.
  • Promoting inclusive practices and contributing to a high-performing, values-driven team.

About you

You’re a proactive and organised professional with strong project coordination skills and a passion for making a difference. You thrive in collaborative environments, have excellent attention to detail, and are confident managing data, reports, and partnership working.

Experience in local government or employment support programmes is a plus, and a project management qualification or equivalent experience is essential.

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and work independently under pressure.
  • Skilled in coordinating meetings, preparing reports, and managing programme documentation.
  • Confident in budget monitoring and financial reporting.
  • Excellent data interpretation and reporting skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced IT proficiency, including managing complex spreadsheets and databases.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
