About the role

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic social workers that know good practice and have great mentoring and leadership skills.

It is a fantastic time to join us following the partnership between Cambridgeshire and Peterborough fostering. We have a full-time Link Social Worker vacancy in our Support & Supervision Team.

We are an integrated fostering team also providing a Countywide short breaks service (Link). In addition to mainstream fostering, our team also supports specialist carers whose role is to provide disabled children with regular short breaks, from 12 nights a year, to 3 nights a week, depending on the child’s assessed need.

Link is a planned, preventive service, aimed at supporting families to carry on caring long term for their disabled child, preventing the need for full time accommodation. While a child is with their Link carer, their parents get a much-needed break and time to spend with other children in the family. The post holder will be responsible for supervising Link Foster Carers, so working with disabled children and their families or within a Fostering Service would be desirable.

We are keen to hear from you if you share our enthusiasm, commitment and determination. You will be supported by experienced, permanent managers and knowledgeable staff to drive forward our vision together. You will have a passion for developing positive working relationships with foster carers and the children they care for.

If this sounds like you then we would very much like to hear from you.

If you wish to discuss this post, please contact Des Kaoura or Mariepearl Camfield. Supervision & Support: Despina.kaoura@cambridgeshire.gov.uk / Mariepearl.camfield@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

The support we offer our Children’s Social Workers comes in many forms. Whether it’s providing flexibility to those going through difficult personal circumstances, encouraging those that want to take the next step in their career, or even helping social workers with a background in Adult’s Social Work transition to the Children’s Service. We value our Social Workers and are happy to provide the support they need to excel in their career.

Apply or get in touch with us today by calling Beth on 01223 475920. Alternatively, you can email us on joinus@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or visit our website for more information.

We know that your time is precious, so our interviews can be held virtually, by Microsoft Teams, to provide the most flexible recruitment process. We may include a virtual assessment as part of this, but we’ll give you all of the relevant information ahead of time.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About you

We're looking for confident and dynamic individuals who enjoy making a difference in their local community, are curious and spot things that others might not see, enjoys building relationships and likes to explore possibilities.

You must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently
