About the role

Due to the retirement and internal promotion of long-standing members of staff, we have restructured our small but busy County Planning team to create a number of exciting opportunities for town planning and enforcement professionals with development management experience.

We are recruiting two Development Management Team Leader posts.  These posts are an exciting opportunity to be involved in determining the County Council’s own planning applications for a wide range of development proposals including infrastructure in new major development areas and settlements.

If you would like to discuss these posts, please telephone Deborah Jeakins on 07468 719657 or Tim Watkins 01223 706575.

What will you be doing?

You will handle and oversee Regulation 3, mineral and waste management planning applications which provide the materials for growth, and delivering more sustainable waste management, some of which will require an Environmental Impact Assessment. As well as handling a complex and varied case load, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a small team of town planners, allocating work and overseeing caseloads.

About you

As a Principal Planning Officer, you will have significant development management experience, a strong work ethic and excellent communication and negotiation skills. You will be able to deal with a variety of customers and have a sound background in report writing and presentations, including at Planning Committee. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing professional and technical advice to discharge the Council’s responsibilities with regard to minerals and waste planning applications.
