What will you be doing?

Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Health & Safety team as the Assistant Health & Safety Adviser.  At Cambridgeshire County Council, the Health & Safety Team has a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation manage risks and is a positive catalyst for change. You will deliver reliable and effective assurances to Cambridgeshire County Council and its stakeholders, considering the extent to which the health & safety arrangements are fit for purpose and operating well in practice.

The Assistant Health & Safety Adviser will provide health and safety advice and guidance, taking the lead in data analysis activity and the production of management information reports.  The role will support the team in various ways to ensure a professional and efficient service is delivered to CCC employees and external customers.

The team is based at our newly constructed civic headquarters at New Shire Hall in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, and operates a flexible working policy. There is the opportunity to work remotely as well as from our central base at New Shire Hall, and travel is required to other Cambridgeshire offices.

About you

Successful applicants will be team players and great communicators, with the desire to think innovatively and strategically about how to improve the way systems and services work, challenge current processes, and work closely with senior management and key stakeholders across the organisation. Experience in MS Excel would be a particular advantage.

Applicants for the Assistant Health & Safety Adviser role will have the NEBOSH Certificate or similar.

We would also welcome anyone who wishes to pursue a career in Health & Safety via the Apprenticeship route.

Please note: Applicants are requested to submit a C.V. and a supporting statement. When writing the personal statement, you should refer to the Person Specification and give specific examples to demonstrate how you meet the criteria.
