About the role

Sensory Support Team 0-25yrs Cambridgeshire

Sensory Support Team Vision Impairment Teaching Assistant

“The best thing about my job is that I get to work alongside a child or young person and help them learn new skills and become independent. When I am successful, I get to see a child move on and flourish because they no longer need that support and it feels amazing.”

“This is my third year working as part of the Sensory Support Team and I can honestly say that no two days are the same – in fact often no two hours are the same! It is a fulfilling, challenging and very rewarding role and the Sensory Support Team are fabulous and incredibly welcoming.”

“I love working here. I walk in and it just makes me smile.”

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and inspiring people to join our team. You will need to be prepared to learn new skills, working both independently and with colleagues in the Sensory Support Team, as well as mainstream school staff.

Your new role will include:

  • Delivering training to schools
  • Supporting the Vision Impairment Specialists in the Sensory Support Team with creating resources and adaptations
  • Learning & supporting Braille delivery
  • Supporting bespoke interventions
  • Being part of a team that is continually developing new strategies to better the outcomes for children/young people who are Vision Impaired

If you feel passionate about the possibilities this role can offer, and the opportunities to learn new skills, then we want to hear from you. For an informal discussion or to find out more, please contact Sibel Djemal on 07880 053496 or sibel.djemal@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

As part of the interview process you will be asked to deliver an 8-minute presentation on a topic of your choice. The topic can be light-hearted or serious, we will be looking at how coherently you can present your viewpoint and engage an audience.

Your new salary will be on the Level 3 Teaching Assistant scale £22,369-£24,054 pro rata for term time only and to 0.6FTE. Although term time only your holiday pay will increase with length of service.
