About the role

Term time only 11.45am to 1:15pm each week day.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, resilient, calm, patient and demonstrate a positive outlook.

An understanding or experience of how to support individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential, we have a supportive team who will share routines and best practice with the successful candidate.

As a 1:1 MDS, your tasks during the meal would include:

 supervising the child in the hall

 encouraging good table manners

 making sure the child’s behaviour does not become too boisterous

After the meal you would:

 supervise the 1:1 child in the playground (or in the hall or classroom in wet weather)

 stop any dangerous behaviour

 deal with any quarrels or fights

 comfort the child if they become upset

 deal with minor injuries such as cuts, grazes and bruises

 sometimes organise and supervise games

Skills, interests and qualities

To be a lunchtime supervisor you should have:

 enjoyment of working with children and the ability to control and supervise them

 patience  the ability to stay calm in an emergency

 good communication skills

 a reasonable level of fitness

 the ability to work as part of a team

We have two roles available, one as a general lunchtime supervisor, the second to begin by supporting a year 6 pupil 1:1 and then moving to a general role in September.

The role is term time only 11.45am to 1:15pm each week day.
Rate of pay: Point 2- £22366 FTE, £11.59 p/h

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, resilient, calm, patient and demonstrate a positive outlook. Experience of working with children is desirable but not essential. We have a supportive team who will share routines and best practice with the successful candidate. A passion for working with and supporting children is essential.
Lunchtime supervisor duties include:
• Supervising and supporting children in the hall
• Positively managing behaviour and escalating issues as appropriate
• Supervising children in the playground (or in the classroom in wet weather)
• Using school policies and practises (induction and training given)
• Managing and seeking support when dealing with first aid issues
• Organising and supervising games focusing on enjoyment and fair play
• Monitoring and supporting the behaviour of specific individuals when requested
• Feeding back to class teachers or senior leaders as appropriate
• Working as part of a team in a rota of duties
To be a lunchtime supervisor you should have:
• enjoyment of working with children and the ability to manage and supervise them
• patience
• the ability to stay calm in an emergency
• good communication skills
• a reasonable level of fitness
• the ability to work as part of a team
• the ability to respond to training and follow procedures
