About the role

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work across Cambridgeshire within our Prevention and Early Intervention services. The aim of the service is to identify, prevent, reduce and delay the need for both short and long term care and support. It comprises of the Adult Early Help team, Reablement, Technology Enabled Care, Sensory Services and Occupational Therapy.

We are committed to growing an occupational therapy team that can provide preventative and strengths based interventions to enable people to achieve what really matters to them.

We play a crucial role in preventing admissions, promoting single handed care through specialist assessment and equipment provision, signposting, problem solving, facilitating discharges, and acting as a link between health and social care.

What will you be doing?

Occupational Therapy Preceptee: you will be supported through the 12 month Occupational Therapy Preceptorship program to assist you to transition from an OT student to an autonomous practitioner. You may also wish to consider this route if you have no previous OT experience in social care. We have a framework in place which will be personalised and tailored to your needs, to build your confidence and competence.

Joining us as an Occupational Therapy Preceptee comes with a salary of £37,358 per annum (pro-rata if part time), increasing to £38,258 on upon successful completion of the programme, where your role will be converted to an Occupational Therapist.

The role is offered on a full (37 hours per week) or part time basis (30 hours per week minimum).

Occupational Therapist: you will be supported by a senior occupational therapist to carry your own caseload, alongside providing occupational therapy advice and support to the wider Prevention & Early Intervention service, including attending huddles, carrying out triage and duty work and mentoring Reablement Leads. You will be encouraged to contribute to practice based education for occupational therapy students and apprentices and will have many opportunities for professional and service development.

The role is offered on a full (37 hours per week) or part time basis (30 hours per week minimum) under Scale P1 £38,258 – £40,958 (pro-rata if part time).

About you

The successful candidate will be required to travel across the county and will need access to a vehicle. 

We have office bases across Cambridgeshire in March, St Ives, Cambridge, Ely and Huntingdon, and the post holders work base may be negotiable dependant on the needs of the service. We work in an agile way, and home working for a proportion of the working week can be supported.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
