About the role

The Council is committed to achieving Net Zero for its own emissions by 2030 and for West Northamptonshire emissions by 2045. To deliver this ambition, the Assets & Environment (A&E) department, through its three units Works, Facilities, and Property Strategy & Estate has embarked on a sustainability journey with ambitious projects that will transform and shape the future of the Council and West Northants. Key current projects A&E are engaged in include:

  • Large scale photovoltaic roll out
  • EV infrastructure strategy
  • Large scale EV infrastructure roll out
  • Estate Climate Strategy
  • Assets energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation
  • Sustainable heat network for Northampton Town Centre

Our Works Unit have an exciting two year fixed term opportunity for an electric vehicles infrastructure officer. You will be working within the Energy Team and you will be supporting the Senior Programme Manager with implementing the EV Infrastructure strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and support the Council's objectives of shaping the future of mobility in West Northamptonshire, that will be an example of best practice, and one that will deliver the best outcomes for the residents of the West Northamptonshire.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a dynamic individual to support the Senior Programme Manager with the successful delivery of electric vehicle infrastructure across West Northamptonshire, from initial feasibility scoping through developing the business case to implementation.

Day to day, your role will involve:

- Identifying suitable locations for EV charging infrastructure based upon factors such as local availability of off-street parking, population density, accessibility for EV owners and the availability of local amenities.

- Conducting feasibility assessments for potential charging hubs considering factors like site suitability, cost, and electrical grid capacity.

- Ensuring that the necessary systems and records are in place, up to date and sound to support project management, audit, and other requirements.

About you

You will bring with you knowledge around infrastructure delivery models. You will have ability to think logically and effectively liaise and communicate rational decisions based on evidence to a wide audience, including internal and external stakeholders.

 You will need to have:

  • Degree or equivalent NVQ qualification (or relevant proven experience).
  • Experience of working in delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Organisational and time management skills and ability to plan and deliver objectives within an agreed timeframe.
