About the role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Local Authority and develop knowledge and understanding of Children’s Services? The Quality Assurance and Practice Improvement Service are seeking a full time (37 hour) Business Officer to support the new contextual safeguarding processes which support children at risk in the community, where all children and young people assessed as being at significant risk of harm will be subject to a multi-agency Risk Outside The Home (ROTH) Conference.

This role will include the convening, minuting and the administration of the ROTH conferences, which will be held face to face. There is an expectation of travel around the County, however the role includes a mix of office and home working, and the base for this role will be negotiable for the ideal candidate.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work as one of your main duties will be travelling to and minuting ROTH conferences across Cambridgeshire.

Please provide a CV detailing your previous roles and experience, qualifications and add anything else you would like to demonstrate on your supporting statement.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Angela Greenall at Angela.Greenall@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

What will you be doing?

You will work alongside the ROTH Chair, but also as part of a wider busy team so must possess good interpersonal skills.

This is a varied role which includes all aspects of convening and minute taking for ROTH conferences, so extensive administration experience is essential. Tasks of the role include but are not limited to: convening of ROTH conferences, processing reports, liaising with professionals and members of the public, updating/monitoring spreadsheets, minuting conferences, updating case records on our internal database.

About you

You will be required to provide high quality administrative support to the team, involving liaising with colleagues, professionals and members of the public over the phone and email, so excellent communication skills are essential.

You will need to have the ability to summarise and produce information in a concise manner. Minutes are recorded on a template and full training and support will be given in order to complete this task, therefore previous minute taking experience is desirable.

You will need to have the ability to prioritise your workload as this is a fast-paced role that includes convening conferences and reviews to meet with statutory deadlines. An understanding of confidentiality and data protection is imperative.

You will need to work on your own initiative; keep calm under pressure and be able to work to tight deadlines. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks, and a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft packages (Word and Excel) and be able to use databases.
