About the role

Cambridgeshire Assessment Service has a fantastic Service Manager secondment opportunity for a passionate Social Work Manager to lead social work practice with children and families in Cambridgeshire. As part of the management team in our Assessment Services, that are based in various localities, you will work with the Head of Service and two other Service Managers (including one in Mash) to provide leadership to your groups and ensure the practice system enables good and outstanding work with families.

We are looking for an experienced leader with the drive, resilience, and creativity to help lead and transform a fast-paced service, within a big county with diverse needs, that is currently under an improvement journey. The recent Ofsted Inspection of the County is that we require improvement, and we are looking for a candidate to work with the Leadership Team to improve the practice of children and families to be good and aspire to outstanding.

We can offer you substantial training and development and dedicated specialist administrative support.

We will only consider applications from internal candidates, that are current employees or agency workers on an active assignment.

If you would like to have an informal discussion with the Head of Service about this exciting role, please contact Ifeoma.nwaosu@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Interviews will be held w/c 8th July

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

What will you be doing?

You will work in collaboration with the current Service Manager to lead our 5 Assessment Teams.

You will be flexible and resourceful, working alongside the Head of Service and the other Service Manager to set objectives, develop plans and allocate resources, to achieve demonstrably improved outcomes for families.

You will work closely with colleagues and partners to embed and use various social work approaches including restorative, systemic, signs of safety, trauma-informed and cultural competence in social work practice, that will meet and exceed professional standards and targets. These various forms of approaches are anticipated to result to a good and outstanding service for all vulnerable children, young people, and their families in Cambridgeshire.

About you

This role requires a visible leader with high expectations and a result-focused approach which is supported by well-developed analytical planning, excellent practice knowledge and strong organisational skills; all of which will be used to instil a reflective, restorative, and open culture where there is an environment of high support but also high challenge.

You will have managed operational teams within children's social care and have a genuine commitment to the provision of high-quality services for our children and young people to enable high quality assessments and interventions with children and families. You will have experience of working with Child in Need and Child Protection assessments and Care Proceedings.
